sss new cabinet front launch!

The wait is over! Our new “Quarterline” fronts for SemiHandmade are live, you can order them and samples now! I shared our downstairs kitchen yesterday, so if you missed that… hop here to see the first Quarterline install, and today, in honor of the launch, I wanted to share one of my favorite ways I’ve used the collection so far. In Archie’s room!

My first line with SemiHandmade was the “modern beaded” which was my take on the classic beaded style, so as a line extension I designed Quarterline as a fresh take on the traditional shaker cabinets.

We named the new door/drawer front design Quarterline since the stile is a fraction of the size of a traditional shaker, which gives it a clean modern look without taking it all the way to a fully flat slab front. Also, there is a street called Quarterline in the town I was born in which follows suit to naming my hardware after cities that are important to me (I adopted the tradition from my hardware partner Park Studio). And yes, not to be confused with quarantine…we named it pre-COVID so quarantine wasn’t a word we had on our minds at the time. haha

SemiHandmade fronts are made to work with Ikea boxes (their Sektion kitchen boxes, their Godmorgon bathroom vanities, and their Besta storage/media units) so with them, the Ikea hack possibilities are endless. You might be more familiar with seeing SemiHandmade in kitchens. I have used them countless times in my own kitchens and in clients homes (here, here and here are just a few examples). Utilizing SemiHandmade with Ikea gives you the opportunity to create the look of a custom kitchen, or media cabinet, or bathroom vanity without the cost.

Shown here in my signature color “Agave”, the Quarterline collection comes in the same 7 colors as our Modern Beaded so you can use them on their own or even mix and match in a space. Quarterline on the bottom, Modern beaded on top would be a great combination to see in a kitchen.

To create the storage cabinet shown you will need:

FROM IKEA:
1 Besta Frame
2 Packs of Hinges
1 Pack of legs

FROM SEMIHANDMADE:
2 Quarterline Doors for Besta in size 23 5/8″ x 25 1/4″

Then add hardware of your choice. The hardware shown here is from my upcoming wood line that I designed for Park Studio and will be launching V soon!

I truly CAN NOT wait to see what you guys come up with in your homes with these doors. Head over to Semihandmade to order samples or start an order!

Additional sources for Archies room:
Tiger rug by Justina Blakeney for Loloi // Chair from Lulu & Georgia // Giraffe from The Counting House // Lamp from CB2 // Painting by Archie, framed by Framebridge // Paint color is Oakmoss by Sherwin Williams // Roman Shades in Dark Green Velvet from The Shade Store

P.S. The first photo in the post is in our main kitchen. We simply swapped my white Modern Beaded fronts (also from my collection with SemiHandmade) with the new Quarterline for the photo shoot. We only swapped these side cabinets so I have since switched them back but I do love both looks. It also illustrates how easily you can update or change the whole look of an existing Ikea kitchen but simply swapping out the fronts for a new design. Shown in the kitchen photo is Quarterline in Desert Grey.  See more of our kitchen and all of the sources, here

love it so much! just wondering do the doors work on any Ikea bath vanity items?

  • Hi there! Love this new collaboration. The piece of art leaning on the dresser is amazing — who is the artist?

  • Okay, just realized your son made the painting. You’ve got a little prodigy on your hands, haha

    • sarah

Haha! Yes! He did this at preschool and it was so sweet they sent it home with me and it’s labeled “archies first painting” in the corner. He was 3.

  • Valerie

I love this! Will you be giving the details on the pink piece that’s in your daughter’s room as well? Thank you

    • sarah

Hi! Thank you. That was the exact same one as this one. Just with pink doors. X

  • Lynne

Do you have any advice for painting these? Did you just spray paint directly or prime first? Does it adhere well? I didn’t know you could paint the Besta line!

    • sarah

Hi Lynne, I didn’t paint them. The besta frame I used as is. The doors are the color that they come in from my line.

  • Rebecca

Hi what are the measurements for the Besta frame? when are the wooden pulls going to be available? also, since the quarlerline are super matte, what are your thoughts on them “matching” the ikea finish (particularly the white matte doors with the ikea finis on the framh). Also (sorry) are the wooden legs from ikea? I didn’t see them on their website.

    • sarah

      Hi Rebecca!
I linked to all the exact products In the shopping list. You can just click on the words. The frame finish is pretty matte too. They look good together.

  • Megan

Wow looks SO good! So the frame is all white and the fronts are the colors right? IKEA only comes in white? Looks like this is what you did for your media storage too. I love it!!

  • brittany graham

    Hi,

Your work is absolutely gorgeous!!! Where are the wooden kid blocks on the cabinet from?

  • Charlotte

    Hi,

LOVE this combination! Did you add any shelf inside the dresser?

  • […] shelter in place orders. Before that, however, I did get a chance to shoot the kitchen for my new Semihandmade cabinet front launch in February with John and Maura Stoffer and while they were here they snagged a few shots of our […]
