Sarah Matthews

Sarah Matthews is a mixed-media artist based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, who spent years on the West Coast before returning home. Her intimate, form-driven works are characterized by compositional storytelling, a refined use of color theory, and an intuitive approach. Working from memory rather than observation, she reduces each subject to its simplest form, betting on the viewer's own memory to complete the rest.
