There is nothing like squeezing out the last days of summer with a picnic in your own backyard and while I am still in our lovey dovey Anniversary mode, I thought it would be fun to create an intimate picnic for two. Just the ticket for a date night in or to celebrate something special.
Pattern mixing is always a fine idea by me, and I set the scene by combining my A Sunny Afternoon linens and boards with the Elephant Landing table cloth and pillows. A textile match made in heaven.
Now all you need is your loved one, some champagne, and to light up the candles, and you’ve got the beginnings of a simple but special evening.
Last week Rupe and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary. If you remember from last year, we take turns planning a trip for the occasion and this year was my turn.
Growing up my family did a lot of traveling around the states and I love that I get to show my English husband all the favorite spots that I can remember from when I was just a young one. One of those favorite spots was Lake Powell in Utah, and that was my main jumping off point for planning a 5 night road-trip. I’ll put together a full post on the route we took, the places we stayed and the things we did, but I wanted to share one of the most magical spots from our journey (pictured above), Antelope Canyon.
I’m so excited to be co-hosting the “end of summer social” with Urbanic this year! If you have been to one of their events before, you know how much fun they are and we have a great line-up of vendors to help make it extra special. We will also be debuting the first ever A Sunny Afternoon paper goods with an exclusive Urbanic product collaboration! I also created a limited edition “picnic” print that the first 50 people in the door will be gifted! So if you’re in LA, come and celebrate the last days of summer with us, Thursday, September 4th… would love to see you there!
One can never have enough stools, poufs or ottomans in his or her life. Used as a footstool, a resting place for your bum, or as a side table, these little workhorses are as beautiful as they are versatile. Target sent me the stool I picked out from their new Room Essentials line last week and I’ve styled it in three different settings to illustrate the handiness of this piece. Ottomans forever!
I’ve decided to keep this one as you see it here, in the bathroom. It’s nice to have the extra surface in a small space. Now I’m on the lookout for a few more ottoman options for the foot of the bed and for that spot above, in the living room. Wish me happy hunting. x
This weekend I had a busy work schedule with a fun project I am working on for Gap, but I was able to enlist the help of my friends making it seem much less like work and a lot more like a party (the best kind of work day). I can’t wait to share what we got up to! After we wrapped for the day we finished off the weekend with dinner and drinks and then back home to catch the last of shark week. Hope you had a great weekend. x
