We weren’t planning on tackling anything in the bedroom until the fall, but last trip there we went for it. We laid the new flooring, tore off the walls and bunk beds, and insulated. All that led me to get planning on how the room is going to come together when it has walls and paint and maybe even some furniture! So here is a little roundup of the items we have either purchased or plan to make for the bedroom.
… and here is how the bedroom is currently looking
We are a long way off from hanging wallpaper or fluffing pillows but here it is in all its naked glory. To see the bedroom “before” photo take a look here, and to see all the progress on the cabin so far, check here.
When I picture tie dye in my head I usually cringe and think of the crazy neon multi-colored spiral. Fortunately there are these toned down versions of Tie dye that could so easily fit my style in one way or the other … and Elle Macpherson sure did make it look good here.
This weekend I spent some good quality downtime. I took a long nap in the sun, had late lunches that extended into dinner time, and watched a mini Mad Men marathon. (thanks Audrey, now Rupert and I are both hooked!)
Over the next couple weeks some of our new Planners will be making their way into all Target stores. This one happens to be my favorite from a full collection of neon planners and calendars that I designed for Greenroom’s “Back to College” season. They will only be in the stores for a limited time so if you have a local target go check them out … there are some cute fuchsia & metallic ones too!
… and here is a little look into the progress we have made so far and how we left the bathroom at the end of our last trip.
So far we have: torn everything out, (which is great as far as progress, but while spending nights there without a shower, sink, or toilet it got rather interesting to say the least), insulated, dry-walled, put in a new tankless water heater, re-did all the plumbing and had the shower base poured. We hired a professional tile guy to put in the shower base and tile for us … which is our first, and most likely, only job that we will have contracted out. (well… other than the exterior paint which was done by a family friend that also happens to be an amazing professional painter so I don’t think that counts.)
I look forward to our next stay when I no longer have to bathe in the lake or pee off the side of the deck in the pitch black night.
