Progress: Interior Demo

Interior gutted

One other project we tackled while in Michigan was tearing out the old plywood walls that you can see here in the “before” photos. We tore everything down to the studs, and surprise surprise nothing was insulated. I did however come across a family of dead mice in one of the walls. After a moment of silence for the little rodent children, I quickly handed over the clean up job to my mom. eek. So this is what the interior is looking like right now.

Pattern Spy: organic dots

Pattern-spy-organic-dots

Inspired by yesterday’s outfit and continuing on with the “Pattern Spy” column that I started over here on Coco + Kelley, I have done a round up of organic dots. I have always loved a good polka dot, so here are a few successful ones shown in home decor, on a product, and in fashion.

You might be noticing a bit of a theme coming through my style posts. I kind of have a thing for patterns and what’s better then a pattern? hmm…definitely more pattern.

Living Room Inspiration

cabin-post-living-inspiration3

Here are a few living rooms I have pulled for inspiration. Some things I am really liking are: The little set of antlers in image 1, the over all color palette of image 2, the stacked picture frames and the sheepskin in image 3, and I am kind of digging the idea of a blue sofa like in Image 4.

Living Room Before

Before I get into too much progress I am going to go ahead and post the rest of the “before pictures”. Here is the living room’s current state.

A few things I wanted to point out are: #1, notice the beautiful water damage on the ceiling and the pealing paint on the fireplace. #2, The raw plywood ceiling and lack of trim. #3, The grey painted tile floors which actually look a ton better in the photo then in real life. #4, the awesome cheapo track lighting. We also inherited the white sofas from the previous owner which are great to have for now but will probably want to replace these too further down the line.

On Abbot Kinney

This weekend I had brunch with some friends and while walking back to my car I was stopped by photographer and fashion hunter Michael Dumler for a few quick photos for his street fashion blog On Abbot Kinney. You can see the post here. I think it’s a pretty genius idea chronicling the people of Abbot Kinney as it it has to be one of the best people watching places around … and after all it is the “coolest block in America”.
