Any day now it will be time to have a baby and our bags are officially packed. I am not sure which items I will actually end up using and which I won’t, but I’d rather err on being over prepared than under. I pulled from baby apps, what my doula told me to bring, and anything I thought would come in handy and made my own list of what I’ll be bringing with me to the hospital for our birth trip.
For personal care/toiletries to tuck into my bag, I turned to The Honest Company. They sent me over a sampling of their all natural goods and I was so impressed with the quality, so when they invited me to share what I’d be taking to the hospital, I thought you guys might want a peek as well. I first found out about The Honest Company through instagram and their adorable diaper selection, but they also just launched an entire feeding section which has high quality items dedicated to the nursing mother, as well as formula fed babes, so I have a feeling I will be looking to them for just about all things in natural baby care.

Last week I had the honor of shooting with the talented Tessa Neustadt for a style feature on Mother Mag. Getting these photos back, it was so nice to see our house from a different perspective… through someone else’s lens!
These were just a few of my favorite shots but head over to Mother to see the full feature and interview that went live today. psst… there is a sneak peek into the nursery too!
So turns out we did have one more weekend as a family of just two. We are still waiting on baby Samuel, and trying to distract ourselves with pretty heels, delicious meals, and the Oscar’s :) Also, a lot of walking, yoga, acupuncture, spicy foods, etc. etc. I’m trying my best to be patient and putting my trust in the fact that he will come when he’s supposed to. Same story, different mother right? Hope you have a great week. xo
I am so thrilled to be able to share photos from the most beautiful baby shower I have ever been to and even more excited because it was MINE! ha, I still can’t believe it. I have to say I have never had a party planned in my honor (post age 6ish) where I didn’t plan it myself or contribute. I have always been the planner and the crafter and the doer, but with this one my friends kept me completely in the dark, all I had to do was show up and pick my jaw up off the floor after I took in all the sweet details of the day.
Of course it helps when one of the hosts of the shower is Amanda from 100 Layer Cake, clearly she knows a thing or two about throwing a party and just wait until you see her gorgeous kitchen! Also co-hosting were a handful of my talented friends that each brought their own expertise to make this a picture perfect fete…
Lauren, founder of Walnut Animal Society was another co-host. She makes those adorable stuffed animals (fox and raccoon above), so she is also basically queen bee crafter. She made most all of the decor, felt garland, stuff animals, and secretly worked with my dad to create those wooden blocks and all the wooden animals that double as super special toys for baby samuel.
With our new addition coming right around the corner (like due this week!), I was thankful for the holiday weekend and an extra day with Rupe at home. We spent our days doing a few of our favorite simple weekend activities that we know we won’t be able to get a chance to for a while with a new little one.
We had a lingering brunch at our favorite local (Gjelina), we meandered around Abbot Kinney doing some shopping (I can’t even remember the last time we went clothes shopping just for fun), we made and hung some shelves in the nursery (which probably isn’t an appealing activity to everyone, but I LOVE it and working on a project together is one of my absolute most cherished things) and finally we took long walks around the neighborhood noticing all the gorgeous new flowers popping up and of course binge watched some Bachelor. ;)
As possibly our last weekend as just the two of us, it may not sound like the most thrilling days, but with such a huge adventure to be thankful for on the horizon it felt important to stop and recognize all life’s simple pleasures too. Hope you had a weekend full of tiny victories and lots of love. xo
