Layering is great and all, but I’m happy Spring is here so I can bring out the jumpsuits and dresses… you know the all-in-one kind of outfits. One piece and you’re done.
I love the structure and silhouette of this one, and it has enough visual interest to be that one and only kind of garment.
Ok, I may have gone over board with the crop tops lately but after being pregnant for what is almost an eternity in fashion land and not able to wear them without looking like Buddha, they have quickly become a wardrobe staple.
Cotton recently invited me to share a few of my favorite garments and I had fun taking a peek into my closet and finding so many of the pieces I wear the most are in fact made of cotton and this particular crop top is high on my fave list. Being 100% cotton, it is a stylish mama’s best friend. The ease of care (with mess-ups bound to happen), the natural fibers, soft for mother and babe, and uncompromising on style as one of this season’s must haves.
And, of course, what kind of mother would I be if I didn’t immediately go out and buy a pair of “mom jeans”. Right?! I have to say they may not be your mother’s mom jeans but these high waisted beauties are on heavy rotation over here and surprise!… they are made of cotton.
Archer is also wearing his favorite stylish and oh so baby friendly cotton pieces… his J.Crew camo harem pants and a white onesie.
I spent a day at home with the oh so lovely Elle, of Solly Baby, a few weeks back and we chatted about work, balance, design, inspiration, and motherhood while I put their wrap to use, lulling Archer right to sleep. You can check out the full interview on their blog today and I picked a few of my favorite images to share with you here…
Rupe got me this purdy skirt for my birthday, which he pulled from my “I want” pinterest board (such a handy thing for husbands, that pinterest), and of course I got all dressed up to sit around at home and take care of a newborn. The full midi silhouette does kinda scream 50’s housewife after all right? So really I am just doing my part to fall into my new role.
Ok but seriously, I adore this skirt and will cherish these photos as our first family portraits. xo
2. We finished work on the cabin (well, for now at least) that we slowly renovated ourselves, where the kitchen went from this, to this.
3. Rupert and I spent my birthday in New Zealand where we road tripped around the north island in a vintage Kombi. It was the trip of a lifetime (see part 1 & par 2).
6. The other top Smitten Studio DIY of the year was this simple Ikea hack.
7. A big change in 2013 was with the selling of our home and the buying and moving into a fixer upper. Glitter Guide sent over a photographer for a Style at Home feature just weeks before we moved out. It was the perfect way to say goodbye to the first place Rupert and I owned together.
8. In the new house we started renovating by refinishing the floors, knocking down a few walls, and painting so that right now at least the living room is livable.
9. We sold out of the first collection of A Sunny Afternoon products much quicker then anticipated so I added new designs, stocked up on some of the favorites, and launched the winter collection with a pancake brunch with friends.
Did you guys get a chance to see my Style at Home feature over on Glitter Guide yesterday? I was so happy when they asked me to participate because I knew that we were moving soon and I thought it would be a great way to say goodbye to the house. Of course I have taken photos of our home myself but have never had anyone else shoot it. I loved seeing it through someone else’s eyes (especially that of the talented Jessie Webster). I also shared a bit about my background, some more on A Sunny Afternoon and Smitten Studio, and how they all overlap.
I also changed a few things in my studio since I last shared it… like painting it bright white. Head over to Glitter Guide to see the whole thing.
