valentine’s day gift guide for him

valentine's day gift guide for him // smitten studioNow I couldn’t leave out the guys! I’ve rounded up a few V-day goodies for them too, because manly chocolate and x & o boxers are a sure win. :)

Liberty Print Tie by J.Crew // Brass Key Ring by Areaware // Chocolate Bar by Mast Brothers // Sunglasses by RayBan // Horseshoe Game Set // I Fucking Love You Card // Peg & Awl Canvas Bag from Free People // Wrist Watch by Larsson & Jennings // Headphones by Master & Dynamic // Shaving Set by Baxter of California // XO Boxers from J.Crew // Leather Wallet from Steven Alan

and speaking of the boys… Free People has an all new Men’s Section and in honor of the occasion they sent Rupe his Valentine’s gift a little early this year. Check the handsome fella out below. :) I picked out the weekender bag for him, because you know we like our little getaways.

from the weekend: showers, house guests, maternity shoots, renovations… oh my!

01.04.15weekend2015 has officially started off with a BIG bang in all the best ways. Over the weekend I worked with photographers Katherine and Luke of Max and Friends to document this mama to be time in my life and they couldn’t have been sweeter or more talented to work with. I’ve only gotten a little sneak peek from the shoot but am SO looking forward to seeing the rest.

I went straight from the shoot to the airport to pick up one of two old friends who both flew in to celebrate our little one on the way at a shower that was thrown for me and baby Samuel on Sunday. It was such a special gathering of incredible (and crazily talented) women that I feel so fortunate to call my friends, I mean check out that dessert table!! (CAN NOT wait to see and share the photos from that too!)

We also stretched the weekend into Monday (because who wants to go back to work after a long break on a Monday anyway) and the Bachelor Premier should of course be considered a holiday, am I right? Kidding of course, kind of, but mostly because we also started a full gut job renovation on the original bathroom, the only room that hadn’t been touched yet. I am cutting it a little close to the ole due date but man when that nesting bug hits in the third trimester, it is NO joke. :)

And finally, last but not least, there has been one more major change in the Samuel household… Rupert made a big career change, leaving his company that he founded in 2007, and later sold, to take a position at CP + B, where his ad career began in the very first place, way back when (you can read a bit about him here and another blurb in the NY Times. #proudwife ;)). After having the month of December off from any work,  his first day was today! I will surely cherish all the extra time we had with just the two of us around the house and now look forward to the big adventure of parenthood!

I hope you had a great start to the year. x sarah

from the weekend: rupe’s 40th!

happy-birthdayThis weekend we celebrated Rupe’s BIG birthday in Miami Beach with a bunch of old friends, in the town where our love story started. His friends flew in from LA, London, Chicago, New York, Nicaragua (!), the Bahamas, and a few from just down the street in Miami Beach. You know the saying to know “so and so” is to love “so and so” well, in Rupert’s case it is to meet Rupert is to love him. He is the most likable, genuine, charming, and compassionate person I have ever met. He can find the good in, and make a friend out of, anyone.

You just can’t not like Rupert and that was extra evident this weekend as we all swapped Rupe stories, and honored him in true South Beach style with a beach day meet up, poolside cocktail party, dance club after party and a bleary eyed brunch the day after. 11:30am came a lot earlier then I anticipated with the time change and a 5 AM end to the previous night (WAYYY past my bedtime and making us all feel extra old).

It was a happy birthday to my much better half, Rupert Samuel (aka RupeDog, aka Rooty Toot).

from the weekend: check up & getting back to work

04.15-weekendWe headed back down to orange county on Friday for Rupe’s first post-op check up since being released from the hospital and was happy to hear the doctor say everything is looking great and healing right on track. I was however a little less happy when we misplaced the car in the parking garage. oops! With Rupe getting along a little better everyday things are slowly starting to get back to normal and I was also excited to be able to get some work done, planning an upcoming shoot with Urbanic.
