get the look: the butcher’s daughter

sss_butchersdaughter_02If you follow me on Instagram, it is no secret that The Butcher’s Daughter is one of my favorite local restaurants. The decor is so in line with my own aesthetic, whenever I go there I feel right at home. There are special details all around like the shibori booth and gold/quartz table, a macrame ceiling installation, hanging plants all around and a stunning back patio. It strikes a perfect mix of styles that I would dub as modern boho farmhouse.  READ MORE

travel story: nyc

tinys-nycself-portrait-dressI hadn’t been back to New York since I was pregnant with Archie so it felt great to be back in the city for a minute. I flew out there with one of my best gal pals and we ate and shopped our way through Soho… READ MORE

from the weekend: brunch & nesting

09.29.14-weekendThis weekend Rupe and I did a lot of furniture store browsing, trying to get inspired to start planning the nursery design. We hit a lot of our favorite West Hollywood shops…  Lawson Fenning, Organic ModernismNickey Kehoe, and Emperic. While these are definitely not baby stores, I like to pull inspiration and get ideas from places like these because, nursery or not, I still want it to have a similar aesthetic to the rest of the house. We made a full day of it including lunch (and the must-have biscuits) from Hart and the Hunter.

One piece of furniture we did pick up for the baby’s room was on Sunday at the Santa Monica Flea Market. We found this vintage (I think its a Homecrest) rocking chair! It came with all the cushions as well, but I am going to have those reupholstered/re-made. At least it is one purchase for the coming baby down, about a billion more to go.

from the weekend: Gjelina & The Corner Door

6.11-weekend Gjelina Corner Door

This weekend I had my friend Anne in town from San Francisco and we did a mini food tour of a few of my favorite spots around the west side of LA. We made our first stop Friday at the new bar in town, The Corner Door (top right photo), then Saturday we had breakfast at Gjelina (top left photo), then lunch at the Kogi truck on Abbot Kinney, and dinner at Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing. Finally, Sunday we had breakfast at a friends restaurant Oscar’s Cervateca on Rose and then Lunch at Wurstküche. We ended it with another trip to Gjelina for dessert. Pheww… my mouth is watering just thinking about all of the amazing food.
