Homemade Pizza Party Giveaway

gourmet pizza party  There is something about the winter months that makes me want Pizza for dinner even more than I usually do, which lets face it, is a lot. Who doesn’t like Pizza? It’s a comforting circle of cheesy bread love, plus the topping options are endless. One step better than going out for your favorite slice is inviting a few friends over for some homemade pizza and last week I turned your average pizza night up a notch to do just that. I teamed up with Ecco Domani to share my take on a homemade pizza party, it’s a little bit fancy and a little bit casual, and the best part is that you can win a slew of goodies to create a memorable pizza night of your own.


Asparagus & Pea Mini Frittatas

asparagus & pea mini Frittatas I haven’t been cooking a lot, or really I should say AT ALL, since Archie was born but breakfast foods seem like a good way to ease back into it. I’m pretty sure eggs are the cooking equivalent of dipping your toe in the water. Rupert usually makes Archie breakfast during the week so on the weekend I wanted to cook up something a little more special than the usual scrambled eggs, but still something quick and easy. I used this recipe as inspiration and played it by ear a little with ingredients we mostly had around the house. I was happily shocked with how good they turned out! So with all that said, I am excited to share my Mini Asparagus and Pea Frittatas made with the help of my KitchenAid® Pro Line® Series Blender.


Blueberries & Cream Yogurt Pops

I grew up in Michigan blueberry picking with my mom every year around this time. We used to go this old farm where the blueberry bushes were the size of small trees. I could literally climb up the middle of the bush to get to the high branches that were out of reach. And while living in California sometimes it is hard to even notice the seasons, the days are a bit longer and warmer and blueberries are a plenty. KitchenAid® recently invited me to try out their Pro Line® Series Blender so to add to the summertime vibe, I’ve been making these super simple and delicious ‘blueberries & cream’ popsicles for Archie and I to nibble on. I am trying my best to keep the taste of summer lingering on as long as we can.

Pear Hard Cider Sangria

pear-cider-sangriapear-cider-sangria2For the first time, Rupert and I are sticking around LA for the holidays. While I will be missing me some Michigan, I’m pretty excited about starting some new traditions with our growing family and celebrating with our friends out here.

While my expecting party of 1.5 won’t be partaking in the cocktails this year, I am already planning my contribution to Friendsgiving and this Pear Hard Cider Sangria is at the top of the beverage list. Target‘s new holiday collection will also be helping me to make sure the presentation is as tasty as the drink.

pear-cider-sangria4pear-cider-sangria3Pears are a fall favorite and make this twist on sangria (made with hard cider instead of wine) fit for a Thanksgiving cocktail hour. For this recipe you can make most of it in a pitcher ahead of time and then add the hard cider just before serving.

Pear Hard Cider Sangria Recipe

1 cup quartered and thinly sliced unpeeled bartlett pears
1 navel orange—quartered and thinly sliced crosswise
1 cup apple juice, chilled
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup pear brandy
One 22-ounce bottle hard apple cider, chilled

Instructions: In a pitcher, combine the pears with the orange, apple juice, lemon juice and brandy. Just before serving, add the hard cider. Serve in tall glasses over ice. Cheers!

So, I’ve asked a few inspiring people to share one of their go-to recipes for me to try and replicate while they also dish about what they are currently up to.

First up is Julie Lee of gorgeous food collage fame. Aka, Julie’s Kitchen. I had the pleasure of having Julie come over to my house for this one, luckily she took it easy on me and crafted up this really simple (and tasty) beautiful meal, Zucchini Pasta with Mint-Pea Pesto. Hope you enjoy!

JL: “Zucchini and peas are at their peak season right now. I love this dish because it’s delicious, easy, and suitable for many diets (gluten-free, vegetarian, low-carb, etc.). You can even make it vegan by subbing nutritional yeast for the Parmesan.”

SS: most prized kitchen utensil?

JL: “My Shun knives. I love all my fancy gadgets, but at the end of the day a really sharp knife is all you need.”
