Happy Memorial Day weekend guys! I hope you will be BBQing and Picnicking to your hearts content. I released a new basket over on A Sunny Afternoon today! It has the same outer basket but is wearing a new outfit, aka a green & white gingham lining. It’s just a little glimpse into all sorts of new goods to come this summer. Enjoy the long weekend. x
I had a friend visiting this weekend so I took Friday off to head up the coast and enjoy a beach day at one of the prettiest stretches or shoreline LA has to offer, El Matador State Beach. We grabbed a blanket, books, and my basket. Packed it up with lunch and we were set for a full day of sunshine, seal watching, and tide pool searching. It doesn’t get much better than that!
When our picnic baskets and serving boards get into the hands of the 100 layer cake ladies you know it’s going to be good, especially when Annie McElwain is behind the camera. I died over the entire shoot and we were tickled to see our pieces being enjoyed by Jillian and her beautiful family. See all of the photos here including a wardrobe change for Jillian into a jaw dropping gold dress and the most darling moments with her little boy.
I couldn’t be happier with the positive response I have gotten with A Sunny Afternoon. So, I want to say thank you to all of the Smitten Studio readers by giving away one of our picnic baskets.

I have been feeling a bit under the weather the last few days, fighting some sort of cold. So other then a lazy picnic on the beach Sunday, I spent most of the weekend sleeping or watching Friends re-runs and wishing my mom lived closer. I hope you guys had a better weekend!
For the holiday weekend Rupert and I took an impromptu trip to Palm Springs. We have both been working a lot of long days lately so a little getaway was just what we needed. We packed up our car, hit the road and landed at the Parker for a weekend full of sun, loads of pool time, yummy meals, and a lot of sleep. We had to postpone our 4th of July beach day picnic celebration until Sunday, but I’d say it was worth the wait. We filled up our basket, headed to a friends house in Manhattan Beach and took to the sand.
It is amazing what a few days off can do for you. I’m feeling refreshed, inspired, and excited to get back to work today. I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing long weekend as well!
