Pattern

SSS + SAY

cloud tee and wallpaper by sarah sherman samuelThere’s a new (and adorable) kids clothing brand in town and I’m thrilled to have designed one of the T-shirts for their launch. It’s called SAY. You may recognize the pattern from the wallpaper I designed for Archer’s nursery and I have to say it is SO fun seeing it 3 dimensional, on clothing. For years my full-time job was creating patterns for 3 dimensional product (notebooks, journals, stationery, binders, bags etc.) for Target and my favorite part was seeing the pattern come to life on the product but now I’m thinking there is something extra special when you see the movement and fluidity it takes on as clothing. Makes me want to do more! Archer might be upping the cuteness factor for me a bit too.

SAY-TEESCLOUD TEE BY SARAH-SHERMAN-SAMUEL + SAYBOWIE-TEE-SAYThey’ve also teamed up with other designers like Amanda Jane Jones and Jennifer Hagler of A Merry Mishap to create the edited selection. And the good news is… in lieu of investing in advertising they are giving away 1 MILLION shirts (!) so head on over and pick yourself out a cloud Tee. Or one of the other designs, I guess. ;) I must admit I want the Bowie Tee too.

As soon as I laid my pattern loving eyes on it, I had to make it mine and have been wearing the heck out of it ever since.

The pattern and the fit… it is just all so good and I must say a little edgier then Anthropologie’s usual assortment. I really love how it looks shown here, with a chambray top, but I thought I would further edge it up with a moto jacket. I never did meet a moto jacket I didn’t like, so when Emma of Emmadime asked me to be a part of her Lovely Lady series, I thought this was just the look for it.

bedroom inspiration

bedroom inspiration // smitten studioHere are some bedrooms that I’ve been swooning over lately. I seem to be really drawn to pops of color in a mostly white room as all of these fall into that category. Our last bedroom was full of color and I was right at home there, however I still do love a monochromatic space like the ones below (especially when pattern on pattern comes to play).

bedroom inspiration black and white // smitten studioLuckily we have two bedrooms in this house, so maybe I’ll just do one of each? Although, I’m pretty sure I’ll want to sleep in the room with color. :)

from the weekend: picnic party

picnic party // a sunny afternoon // smitten studioSummer is in full swing and this weekend we made a point to get out and enjoy it with some friends. We had a picnic party to celebrate the launch of A Sunny Afternoon, a pool party for a friends birthday and now we are gearing up for the 4th! I’ve been so busy the past couple weeks that I haven’t made any independence day plans yet, but now that it is Monday morning I am looking forward to celebrating some more this holiday weekend. :) How about you guys, are your plans for the 4th all figured out?

Silk pants with a pretty pattern that feel like pajamas… yes please. They also have a little ruching by the ankle, which for my small ankle situation, it’s a detail that I appreciate.
