pattern spy: brushstrokes

pattern spy brushstrokesThe painter in me is always drawn to a good brushstroke pattern. Here’s a few that I have my eye on now.

pattern spy: houndstooth

pattern spy painted houndstoothHoundstooth has been around for a long while but I have to say it looks pretty modern and fun when done in these bold & graphic ways.

pattern spy: sequins

pattern spy sequinsIf the holidays aren’t a good enough excuse to bring a bunch of sequins into your life, then I don’t know what is. I’ve definitely been wearing my fair share and also added a little to our sofa with a sequin pillow. Sequins create a subtle pattern but with a big glitzy statement and I can’t get enough. So go ahead and wear a sequin dress (I did, at our holiday party… photos coming soon), maybe use a sequined curtain as a backdrop to a photo booth, or throw a sequined pillow into your home.

1: Sequin Dress by Haute Hippie // 2: Sequined curtains by Anthropologie // 3: Sequined pillow by Bliss Living

pattern spy: painterly brush strokes

pattern spy painted brush strokes

Maybe it is my background in painting (When I first went to college I started taking classes towards a BFA degree in painting before switching to graphic design two years in), but I love a good heavy brushstroke pattern.

1: Diane Von Furstenberg Dress //  2: Colorfield Art from Dwell Studio  //  3: DIY party cups found on Design Sponge
