Last week I had the honor of shooting with the talented Tessa Neustadt for a style feature on Mother Mag. Getting these photos back, it was so nice to see our house from a different perspective… through someone else’s lens!
These were just a few of my favorite shots but head over to Mother to see the full feature and interview that went live today. psst… there is a sneak peek into the nursery too!
I hope you all had a great Christmas. Rupert and I spent ours hunkered down with just the 2 (.5) of us and the dogs. It was the first time we didn’t travel to see family and I definitely missed them and the snow, but it was also really special knowing that it will be the quietest Christmas we will most likely ever have and this time next year a mini Rupe will be scooting around the tree.
Los Angeles is also a lot quieter in general, between Christmas and New Years, and I’ve enjoyed taking many a trips to get the best decaf latte in all the land without a line! Above we were on such a coffee run in celebration of hitting 32 weeks!
I’ve always been a fan of the pencil skirt and the silhouette has come even more of a staple in my wardrobe during my pregnancy. Here at 30 weeks I’m pairing it with these non-maternity tops, a cozy fair isle cardigan and a cropped blouse (you may remember it from our pregnancy announcement video looking just a little less filled out ;).
The key to styling clothes around the bump successfully, for me, is to keep at least either the top or the bottom closely fitted, otherwise you can end up just looking like a big blob (and for heaven’s sake I already feel so blobbish, it makes a girl feel better not to look it too). The pencil skirt does the trick here, while I was able to layer up and go more loose and flowy top.
Rupe and I have a wedding to go to in Malibu this weekend, and while it is not too far of a drive for us, I thought we should make a fun little mini-vaca out of it. I am becoming increasingly aware that these romantic weekend trips will probably be put on hold for a long while after baby comes, so I am going to fit in as many as we can until then. I found a little cottage on AirBnB that is tucked up in the mountains and while I can’t wait to celebrate the newlyweds, I will also be looking forward to some calm respite in the woods.
In my bag is a mix of maternity and non-maternity wear. I can still fit into most regular tees and tops but at 21 weeks I’ve made the cross-over to maternity dresses and jeans. I have been loving Asos and TopShop for the mama-to-be clothes as they are pretty reasonably priced, but also fashion forward instead of frumpy and blah. I am to the point where I don’t feel very attractive in this crazy changing body and having cute clothing options are definitely a help.
Sidenote: I have been asked a lot about what camera I use and while all my instagram and most of my travel photos are just shot on my iPhone, my interior shots on the blog and style posts are taken on my Canon 7D (which I included above). Also, some of you have asked about a tutorial on my editing process for my iPhone photos and I promise I will put one together soon!
