While I have been dreaming of getting away to my favorite LA hotel, The Santa Monica Proper, I guess the next best thing is sharing how to get the look at home. I was here just days before lockdown in March in this Kelly Wearstler designed wonderland. If I had her design my home, it would look exactly like this. This is my spirit hotel. ha She is on the cover of the Domino Mag this month in the hotel so you can head over there for much better photos, but I’ll share my iphone snaps here and then a round up a few shoppable pieces to mimic the layered neutral patterned vibes in your own home. get the look: great white venice
One of my favorite breakfast spots in LA is the relatively new, Great White in Venice. It has a beautiful rustic beach shack vibe with white plaster built-ins, rattan lamps, wood seating, loads of plants and then the addition of modern art and gorgeous marble accents add some polish. Oh and the food!… just as tasty as the interiors (I love the harvest bowl). Now back to the design… see how you can get a bit of this Cali vibe into our house, below.

get the look: the palihouse
I don’t think I’ll even get my fill of this dark leafy green (at least I hope not since I’ve used a similar shade in so many of my own spaces over the years. Like my bedroom and our a-frame kitchen) and the gorgeous courtyard restaurant, Mardi, in the Palihouse West Hollywood, has it in spades.
I love coming here for brunch just to take in all the leafy goodness and feel like I’ve been transported to a European cafe, so I’ve rounded up some pieces so you can bring the vibe into your own home.

get the look: the butcher’s daughter
If you follow me on Instagram, it is no secret that The Butcher’s Daughter is one of my favorite local restaurants. The decor is so in line with my own aesthetic, whenever I go there I feel right at home. There are special details all around like the shibori booth and gold/quartz table, a macrame ceiling installation, hanging plants all around and a stunning back patio. It strikes a perfect mix of styles that I would dub as modern boho farmhouse. READ MORE
Travel Stories: The Amado
While our A-frame still has no bathroom, about a half of a kitchen, and is covered in saw dust, we are getting extra familiar with all the hotels and lodging options in Palm Springs. One of my favorite Airbnb’s in the area is The Amado where we stayed this week while checking in on the construction of our place.
The boutique hotel was once an apartment building that photographer and founder Jaime Kowal renovated and restored to become the polished mid-century gem it is today. There are 5 units total, we stayed in unit number 5 which is the only two bedroom and comes with it’s own semi-private patio as well. We had my parents in town so the two bedroom was perfect. You can also rent out the entire place for events (sign me up!). Lucky for us, since it was mid-week we had it all to ourselves anyway!
It’s right smack in the middle of Palm Springs making it a great location. The decor is minimal in all the right ways with some pretty great art on the walls. I’ve rounded up a few of the pieces so you can steal the look and bring The Amado vibe into your home.
