my bags are packed – on Coco + Kelley

While Cassandra is Safari – ing in Africa she asked me to do a little guest post over on Coco + Kelley and since I am also off galavanting around in New Zealand, I figure why not stick with the travel theme and give a little peek into what made its way into my suitcase.

new zealand packing guideSo, here are a few things that came along with me on our journey down under and you can see how I styled these items from a beach day to a night on the town over on Coco + Kelley.

While I was searching for a new bathing suit, (I mean it is summer over here after all and I’m pretty sure that qualifies as a good excuse for a new one) I came across so many that I loved, I thought I would show a few alternates in case you are planning a little warm getaway or a tropical spring break vaca of your own.

pattern spy: snakeskin

pattern spy snakeskinInspired by my snakeskin style post, here is a round up of all things serpentine. I could definitely find a place in my life for each of these pieces… especially that Clare Vivier bag that I have been drooling over for much too long now.

pattern spy: butterflies

patternspy-butterfliesCreating a pattern of butterflies can be tricky business to get to look sophisticated instead of juvenile. They can go too cutesie too quickly but when I saw this dress I knew there were some butterfly patterns out there that actually capture the natural beauty of the creature. Here are a few that I think accomplish just that. So why not wear that dress, hang that print, or maybe make a table cloth out of this fabric for your next party?

This little romper was a big hit with Rupert on date night last weekend, so I figured why not make this weeks style post out of it. Here is how I styled it:

1. Romper by Indah found at Princepessa // 2. Mint Clutch by Asos // 3. Feather Necklace from F21 // 4. Shoes by 80%20  // Love ring by Jen’s Pirate Booty also from Princepessa

pattern spy: the inkblot

patternspy-inkblotI have always been kind of fascinated with the Rorschach test and I love how the inkblot patterns look translated into use as decoration. I recently saw an inkblot pillow in HD buttercup but I couldn’t find who it was made by or how much it was, so I passed it over. Regretting that, I went on a search and thankfully found the one above on Pigeon Toe’s online shop.

While looking I was also reminded of Mondo’s amazing dress from Project Runway’s all star season, and fell in love with Warhol’s gilded version as a print. Not sure what Rorschach would think of me wanting to splash these patterns on everything but I think they are crazy good!
