I love the lasercut pattern on these shorts, and the material, and the fit. ;) I’ve been wearing them any chance I get, to the beach with a bikini in the day, and dressed up with the cuff and bag (also a new favorite, thanks to Rupe shopping my Pinterest Want page… score!) for a night out with our happy hour crew.

in my bag: los angeles

packing for a staycation, los angeles // smitten studioInspired by my weekend jaunt all over L.A., I am planning a little stay/workcation at a hotel on the other side of town, so that we can escape the construction for a couple of days.

Waking up to wood saws, hammering, and the smell of welding copper pipes maddeningly a touch too early for me every morning is beginning to wear on these tired bones. While Rupe leaves for work for the day, I am at home fielding questions from the crew and trying to work out of my studio with the cacophony of electric tools just outside my door. Oh and there is also the frequent interruptions in running water which has me running to the local grocery store for bathroom breaks. lovely.

I am not complaining because all this noise means progress and I will be so thankful when we move into our new bedroom. However, I think it is time to grab my bag, laptop, current notebook, the most luxurious PJ’s, and a business meeting outfit, and head out for a couple work days on the east side.

pattern spy: marbled

pattern spy marbled // smitten studioNot only am I big fan of marble in the kitchen, but I love seeing it’s likeness pop up in fashion and paper goods. I just ordered this planner (I can’t wait to get my hands on it), and I am seriously contemplating that dress and that pillow. This wallpaper is pretty amazing too. How much marble is too much marble? I can’t stop!

in my bag: home for the holidays

in my bag, michigan // smitten studioLike I mentioned before, I am really looking forward to heading to my parents house in Michigan for some downtime. I’ll be packing my coziest sweaters and comfiest pajamas (which I will most likely be wearing for a large portion of the days while we happily hibernate through the holiday). My to do list has a long way to go before we head out, but you better believe my bags are packed!

my style: cut-out top & silk pants

However, we had friends over this past weekend so I thought I better put on some clothes. You know, the decent thing to do. Luckily these silk pants are the worlds most comfortable trousers and the top keeps me just as cool in the heat as the bathing suit.

in my bag: anniversary date night

anniversary getaway - in my bag // smitten studioLet me start off by saying I am a huge fan of traditions, old ones and especially starting new ones. Tomorrow is Rupert and my 4 year wedding anniversary and we started a few traditions of our own since we’ve been married. The first being that I wear a white dress, we find a pretty spot and recite our vows to each other. This is my favorite. We get married all over again every year, just the two of us.

The second tradition is that we take turns planning a little getaway to celebrate and it’s a surprise to the other every year. This year it is Rupert’s turn to plan, so I am in the dark of where we are headed but my bag is packed and I am so ready to go. I’ve got my date night outfit ready, a gorgeous card from Rifle, a bikini in case there’s a pool or beach, some slinky lingerie, and an overnight bag to throw it all in.

Do you guys have any fun anniversary traditions?
