4th of July

from the weekend: palm springs & 4th of July picnics

07.04.13palmsprings-weekend2For the holiday weekend Rupert and I took an impromptu trip to Palm Springs. We have both been working a lot of long days lately so a little getaway was just what we needed. We packed up our car, hit the road and landed at the Parker for a weekend full of sun, loads of pool time, yummy meals, and a lot of sleep. We had to postpone our 4th of July beach day picnic celebration until Sunday, but I’d say it was worth the wait. We filled up our basket, headed to a friends house in Manhattan Beach and took to the sand.

It is amazing what a few days off can do for you. I’m feeling refreshed, inspired, and excited to get back to work today. I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing long weekend as well!

in my bag: day at the beach

dayatthebeach-smittenstudioI’ve never been a huge fan of the traditional red, white, & blue combination, so this 4th of July I am going to take some liberties with the old glory colors and tweak them a bit. Who says you have to be soo matchy matchy with the stars and stripes to show your patriotism anyhow? Come Thursday you will find me on the beach in my *pink, white, & blue (and a little black) celebrating our independence and the great country we call home.
