smitten travels: wynwood art district – miami

wynwood art district // smitten studioWhen I lived in Miami, this neck of the woods was the old manufacturing district with abandoned warehouses on every corner. Now the big buildings have turned into giant canvases featuring artist’s work from all over the world. Rupe and I spent a day wandering around the streets soaking up all the creativity….

from the weekend: miami to la

03.16.14 weekendThis weekend we spent a day in Miami touring the Wynwood art district and cramming in some more beautiful beach time before bidding adieu to Florida to get back to our home state of California. Once back we eased back into normal life with a brunch at Gjelina and a hike around Palos Verdes.

Now back to work! Happy Monday. x

from the weekend: rupe’s 40th!

happy-birthdayThis weekend we celebrated Rupe’s BIG birthday in Miami Beach with a bunch of old friends, in the town where our love story started. His friends flew in from LA, London, Chicago, New York, Nicaragua (!), the Bahamas, and a few from just down the street in Miami Beach. You know the saying to know “so and so” is to love “so and so” well, in Rupert’s case it is to meet Rupert is to love him. He is the most likable, genuine, charming, and compassionate person I have ever met. He can find the good in, and make a friend out of, anyone.

You just can’t not like Rupert and that was extra evident this weekend as we all swapped Rupe stories, and honored him in true South Beach style with a beach day meet up, poolside cocktail party, dance club after party and a bleary eyed brunch the day after. 11:30am came a lot earlier then I anticipated with the time change and a 5 AM end to the previous night (WAYYY past my bedtime and making us all feel extra old).

It was a happy birthday to my much better half, Rupert Samuel (aka RupeDog, aka Rooty Toot).

my style: full skirt & crop top

full skirt // crop top // smitten studio //sarah sherman samuel full skirt // crop top // smitten studiofull skirt // crop top // smitten studiofull skirt // crop top // smitten studiofull skirt // crop top // smitten studiofull skirt // crop top // smitten studioTHIS skirt. The color, the pattern and the twirlability… it had my name all over it. The ladylike length pairs well with a crop top even if my neon white tummy hasn’t seen the sunshine in months (note to self: hit the beach). Also, who doesn’t want a gold wing on their clutch? Surely, no one I would want to meet. OK, I kid! (kind of ;)
