I’m packing my bags again… this time for Wyoming! My sister lives there with her family so I am heading over for a little wild west adventure but mostly to meet my new nephew, and snuggle that little peanut.
It has already snowed a few times at their house so I am bringing along some of my coziest.
Look what came back from the framers! Our very first piece of art hanging up in the new house and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out (especially with how it looks with that rug).
As you may remember, I dropped my new Sharon Montrose print off at Michael’s before even getting a chance to take a good look at it, so it was realllly exciting to pick it up all framed and in its full flamingo glory.
I am also happy to have at least one tiny corner of the house kind of done-ish! I dug through a few boxes in the garage to bring in a some of my treasured little pieces and styled the corner so that amongst all of the madness I can look there and see how the house will eventually take shape when more things are finished.
To re-cap what we’ve done in the living/family room so far, we have:
1. busted through and opened up two walls
2. pulled out carpeting
3. laid new wood flooring
4. sanded down existing wood flooring and stained the old & new to match
5. painted
6. added a new heating system
After recovering from quite the epic Halloween party, (complete with fire dancers!) I peeled off my fancy eyelashes and out of my mermaid costume to get back to work on the house this weekend. While running errands I saw this old Ford truck that was the best color, I totally have a thing for this peachy/coral lately, it even fits right into my inspiration color palette for the house too.
On sunday we went for a hike at one of our favorite LA parks, Will Rogers State Park. The heavy fog made for the most beautiful & slightly eerie light. The dogs were loving it as well, if you look close you’ll see Cracker taking in the view too. :)
We’ve been getting a lot of help with this renovation by hiring subcontractors, but since my parents came to help out recently, Rupe and I took a couple days off of work and we all went full speed ahead on the kitchen.
Literally everything AND the kitchen sink went out the door and we started the process of re-building the new. See the demolition progression after the jump…
The ladies over at A Beautiful Mess invited me to contribute on their site with a few DIYs. With a blank slate for a house I figured I would have more then enough projects to go around so I’m happy to be able to share a few over there in the coming months.
First up, is this super easy DIY pendant lamp. My friend Lauren came up with the genius idea of creating a light out of this Ikea dish and I brought the idea to life with just a short list of supplies.
This DIY really is as easy as 1, 2, 3. Head over to A Beautiful Mess to see the full process.
