sss collaboration

sss x team woodnote prints

Hi guys, I have some exciting news! When designing the creative warehouse space known as LightLab I wanted to create some custom art that reflected the founders, so I dove deep into Team Woodnote’s instagram feed and picked out photographs from their travels. Once I had some images to work with, I began collaging them together and experimenting with shapes. These two prints are the results and now they are available for purchase for your own home!

SSS x Cedar & Moss

sarah sherman samuel x cedar and moss pendant // trullbrook residence bathroomHappy Monday guys! My excitement this morning is two-fold because #1 I get to introduce you to another SSS product collaboration and #2 share a sneak peak into the almost finished master bathroom from my “Trullbrook Residence” client. You may remember the before photos and the design plan from this post, and it is all coming together. The custom vanity I designed, the basket weave tile pattern, the gorgeous slab… and probably my most loved items in the room are the pendants I designed along with my favorite lighting company Cedar & Moss.

sarah sherman samuel x cedar and moss pendant // trullbrook residence bathroomsarah sherman samuel x cedar and moss pendant // trullbrook residence bathroomI am always on the hunt for modern mini pendants, which work so well at bathroom vanities, so I wanted to create my own. Cedar and Moss had just come out with their ceramic line and we knew it was a match made in heaven. I worked closely with Michelle, the founder, by passing sketches and going through a first and second prototype before we landed on the final piece that I got to use in my Trullbrook Residence project and that you can purchase through my shop and over on Cedar & Moss now!

If you are familiar with any of my work you will have no doubt seen some Cedar & Moss fixtures. When Michelle first launched her line, I used her Alto Pendants in our kitchen renovation and have become a loyal Cedar & Moss fan from then on. What started as a one woman show has grown in leaps and bounds into a bustling studio, providing the marketplace with modern and midcentury lighting options that are minimal and also affordable and I am SO happy to be able to work with them to create my first light fixture, the Archer pendant.

sss collaboration II

sarah sherman samuel x youngfrankk // napkin ringsRound 2 of my SSS artist’s collaborations has me SO excited. Our napkins were in need of a little jewelry, so I reached out to Christine of Young Frankk for a little help to get them all dolled up for the holidays. You may recognize the x motif as I’ve worn a bracelet by her that is similar to the design, here and there on the blog. Inspired by her cuff, we set out to create these napkin rings… I drew out the shape and she created a prototype, we chatted, I gave her some tweaks, she proposed ideas, and we continued on like that until they were complete. Working alongside another artist in collaboration is a fulfilling project and has given my creative juices a big boost.

introducing sss product collaborations

sarah sherman samuel x melanie abrantes // cake standsI am thrilled to announce the first of a special series of SSS product collaborations. This has been in a works for a while now, so it kind of feels like I am sending my babies off to college, but dang it… they are ready. I am teaming up with other makers and artists to co-create some limited edition objects that will be sold exclusively in the Sarah Sherman Samuel shop and first up are these gorgeous wooden cake stands.

I haven’t turned wood since high school, so together with Melanie Abrantes (wood & cork turning extraordinaire) we brought these beauties to life. I drew up the three styles, the geometric shapes giving a modern twist to a traditional item, and Melanie hand turned them from solid wood. In a nutshell… they’re my design, by her hands. We only made a small batch of them, so head on over to the shop for something truly unique.

Now enough about me, here’s a bit more about Melanie and her beautiful craft…  READ MORE
