You may have caught on Instagram a while back that I introduced the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence into my beauty routine. I have been using it for about a month now and I’m here to report back on my findings! First, let me start off by saying, I did not actually really have a beauty routine.

Up until now, I used a good cleansing oil and that is all I used. So, when SK-II invited me to take part in the #OneBottleAwayFrom journey (by using the product every day for a full month) I jumped at the chance to test out their “miracle water”. Self-care has fallen embarrassingly far down my priority list, especially since becoming a mama. I wanted to be #OneBottleAwayFrom pre-baby skin as it is really starting to show the signs of neglect.

I loved hearing about the “aha” moment behind Pitera when I started reading up on the product. To give you a little background, the active ingredient in SK-II was discovered years ago when scientists noticed the soft, young looking hands of sake brewers and how they didn’t match their wrinkled aged faces. According to the site, they surmised that the secret must lie in the yeast that the brewers’ hands were in constant contact with during the sake fermentation process. Through an exhaustive research of over hundreds of yeast strains the scientists spent years isolating the single yeast strain that held the secret to radiant, younger looking skin, which is what became known as Pitera.  When I heard that story, I knew I wanted in!

Pre SK-II, the extent of my self care equaled taking a shower, but adding on the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence was easy. To use it you just saturate a cotton pad and pat it on your face and neck after cleansing. Ok yes, I can definitely handle that. The product has a water like consistency and going on it felt refreshing. After the first use my skin felt more hydrated and when I put on make-up it went on more smoothly.

After using it for a couple weeks I was happy with how well it moisturized and my skin definitely felt better. More firm.

A month into it now and my skin does look healthier. It has more of a glow and I’m hoping some of my dark spots will continue to fade. Overall, I’m really happy with the results from adding just one product (which is kind of perfect for the extra busy mama folk), I am going to keep it in my routine and maybe if I get really indulgent add a moisturizer on top! With the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence, I’m #OneBottleAwayFrom taking hold of my skin!
