bedroom sharing with boys

bedroom with baby // sarah sherman samuelEww! Kidding, it’s pretty OK with my two. I’m sharing a peek back into how our bedroom shaped up after baby’s arrival and how some more masculine bedding squeaked its way in there, giving the room a little re-fresh avec Target Style and their new line, Brooklyn & Bond.

Most of the time he picks my favorite one, I am then reassured we were meant to be, and the times he doesn’t I just explain why my one is so much better. Luckily this time around we both chose the same bedding. I liked it because it reminded me of men’s shirting and the bedroom could use a touch of masculinity now that I am outnumbered in the house and Rupe liked it for the color and the little red zig zag trim.

Archie hasn’t slept in it for months now, because somehow, little me grew a HUGE baby, but I can’t seem to put it away just yet, and what type of blogger would I be if I didn’t at least take photos of it in the space and properly document such a fleeting moment in time.

Studio Update

This post is brought to you by BEHR. Color that’s True to Hue. If you feel it you can find it. Visit truetohue.behr.com

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen a few sneak peeks of some changes in the studio and now I am thrilled to share my new workspace.

studio update // sarah sherman samuel 1While Archer is still so little, I have been working more in the house and less in my studio, so I brought my primary computer and desk into the living room. This way, on the days I don’t have childcare I can fit some work in while he is napping and still be within earshot of his bedroom. The great thing about that is, I was able to set the studio up with photo lighting and a white nook, so I can shoot new products and add them to the new website (I swear it is coming SOON) much more easily.

However, on the days I do have childcare, we have someone come to our house to watch Arch, as working in the living room with that cute face bouncing around next me isn’t the greatest for productivity. Cut to… me making a new smaller workspace in the studio so I can still have the photo set up, but also have a place to work on my laptop. While I was switching things around, Behr invited me to try out their MARQUEE Interior Paint & Primer and I jumped at the excuse to give the studio a new look. I love how painting a new color can change the feel of a room SO much. By adding a big graphic stripe on the wall, I’ve set the stage for a graphic inspiration board and while I really loved the peachy pink floors, this jade color (“dark jade” to be exact) is another favorite.

studio-update-sarahshermansamuel640studio update // sarah sherman samuel2rugFor the walls, I painted a bold accent stripe in “limousine leather“, giving me a light and bright space with just a touch of black… the best of both worlds.

What I love about having painted floors is that you can easily change up the color in one afternoon and match your current color obsession. I picked the “dark jade” for the floor after returning from a bright green Michigan to a very brown LA, and was looking to bring a bit of that green back into my life. Since it was going on the floor, I used BEHR PREMIUM Porch & Patio Floor Paint but had them mix it to match the MARQUEE color.

sarah sherman samuel // workspacesarah sherman samuel // studio updateI went for a slim plexi desk (actually a console table turned desk) so it wouldn’t compete with the bold paint colors and stripe treatment, or take up too much space. Also, how about those copper chairs (insert heart eyed emoticon here) and that beauty of a vintage rug?! OH, and if you look closely, there is also a little sneak peek of the new website I have been working on. I am counting down the days, hours, minutes, and seconds until I can get all the content finished, posts migrated, and get back to posting regularly. Until then, I hope you enjoy the updated studio as much as I do and hope it inspires you to try something new with color.
