Amanda on Glitter Guide

amanda dawbarn // glitter guideHave you guys seen the Glitter Guide feature on Amanda Dawbarn of 100 Layer Cake that went up this week? I had the pleasure of contributing with some of the styling which was easy peasy because Amanda has so many amazing pieces in her home. I had also been wanting to work with the photographer Jessie Webster for sometime, so it was a great surprise to find out she was going to be shooting it.

Amanda and I met last year and became fast friends. When answering “how do you sparkle?” in the interview she replies “by encouraging and inspiring others to find what they are meant to do”, and Lord knows that in just the last year, while swapping stories, doing some heavy crafting, and getting lost in parking garages together, she has done exactly that for me. So, go check out the entire Glitter Guide feature and get to know 1 of the 3 ladies behind 100 Layer Cake a little better.

Happy Friday!

Styling: Amanda with assistance from Sarah Sherman Samuel and Jillian Clark

smitten travels: hotel debrett, auckland

hotel debrett auckland // sarah sherman samuelhotel debrett auckland // sarah sherman samuelhotel debrett auckland // sarah sherman samuelOur first two nights in New Zealand were spent at this lovely boutique hotel in the heart of Auckland. Upon arrival to Hotel Debrett we were greeted with such friendly and helpful staff that we felt right at home. They gave us great recommendations on what to do around the city (i.e. walk up Franklin to Ponsonby street for shops and take the ferry to Waiheke island) and Michelle, the owner, even helped us plan a few stops on our campervan route.

More after the jump…

what’s in my bag for Chicago

travel uniform // via smitten studioI landed today to grey skies and a little falling snow. Spring has definitely not sprung in Chicago and my suitcase reflects it. Here’s what went into my bag (along with a big puffy down coat).

1: Distressed Jeans by Adriano Goldschmied // 2: Max Army Jacket by Veda // 3: Sweater by Sass & Bide // 4: Transport Tote by Madewell (I’ve had this bag for a year or so and bring it EVERYWHERE. It even fits my 17″ macbook) // 5: Asos Beanie // 6: Ankle Boots by Rag & Bone

from the weekend: long walks & tasting kitchen

03.24.13 chicken & waffles
I’m heading to the cabin today (finally!!!) so I spent the weekend getting things ready to go, taking the dogs on a few long sunny walks (before heading to the snow), and eating at a few of my favorite places.

fancy paws success

fancy paws // birds of a feather // smitten studioI could not be more excited to share a few of my favorite photos from the Fancy Paws event I was a part of a couple of weeks ago.

fancy paws // birds of a feather // smitten studioI have to say, any day spent styling up and playing with a bunch of puppy dogs is going to be a good day. However, add in Sarah Yates, the rest of the Birds of a Feather ladies, the fact that we were raising money for NKLA (an organization I am happy to support), I got to see some of you guys, and it was almost too good to be true.

How cute are these faces? It is just too much.

Oh and of course I had to get my little darlings Pikku & Cracker in on the action…

fancy paws // birds of a feather // smitten studiofancy paws // birds of a feather // smitten studioIt is hilarious to see the personalities of each one come out in the photos… my crazy Cracker and my regal Pikku.

Make sure to check out Sarah Yates’ blog, A house in the Hills, and the Birds of a Feather’s blog for more photos from the day. You can also read more about Fancy Paws here. Also, a big thank you goes out to the Forge for sponsoring.

If you attended the event and want to share your dog’s images on instagram or twitter hash tag them #fancypawsevent… and let us know so everyone can see more of the pretty pup pics!
