OK…I just couldn’t resist posting one more from the weekend. After all, I would be amiss if I didn’t post anything about our über relaxing spa time that we had at Solage. Here is Anne post-massage and pre-mud treatment.

This weekend I treated my BFF Anne to a girly spa getaway up in Calistoga to celebrate her upcoming nuptials. We had THE BEST time, staying, eating, and relaxing at Solage and we also got to cruise around wine country by bicycle. I took this photo of Anne on our way to a tasting at Chateau Montelena, of Bottle Shock fame. I had seen the movie a while ago and didn’t even realize it was the same winery that the movie was based on until we got there…such a fun surprise!

In the bedroom I have a bit of a split personality issue going on. On one hand I would like to keep with the calm natural palette of the rest of the cabin as shown in these inspiration posts, here, here and here, but on the other hand I wouldn’t mind bringing some bigger color statements in there.
Here is a collection of rooms that I’m liking in the more neutral-ish palette.
Some things that are working for me in these rooms are: the natural wood, black accents, the textured white walls behind the beds in 2 & 3, and that fur throw in 1.
Then there is this other side of me that would like to bring some more color into the bedroom like these …
Here, I am especially loving the bright color combinations, the bold striped rug in 3, the little yellow stools in 4, the art in 1, 2 & 3, and the combinations of different textures in all of them.
While I work with color all day long in my profession and am more known for that, it would still be kind of nice to have our cabin be the calming break from it all and stick with the more limited palette of the rest of the place. Maybe my solution lies some where in between the two. What do you think?
Here is the final room of the “before tour”, the bedroom. The space is pretty tiny with nothing but bunk beds and, as promised, the little whale motif from the bathroom makes its appearance again! We are going to tackle the bedroom last because as of now it is fully functioning as our only storage space.
There is an identical set of bunk beds on the opposite wall that we plan to tear out and hopefully fit at least a full size bed.
